This one ingredient frozen treat is perfect for anyone looking for a sweet treat; plus, there's an option for a peanut butter chocolate version.

banana ice cream from living well kitchen

This "ice cream" only has one ingredient!

    BANANAS

Now, this is not a new concept. If you read any other healthy food blog, I'm sure you've seen this before.

But I know one thing; it works.

I've never been a huge fan of bananas, but the banana flavor isn't that pronounced when it's banana ice cream. It's a great substitute for ice cream when you are looking for a cold, creamy, sweet treat but want something not as rich as ice cream.

All you need is a food processor or high-speed blender. I used my favorite kitchen appliance, my mini food processor.

In less than 5 minutes, you have your "ice cream."

Well, you have to freeze the bananas first, but that's the only prep work you have to do. I like to keep bananas in my freezer to add to smoothies or to have on hand when I want to make this ice cream.

It's great for kids, those with food allergies, or someone trying to eat more produce.

This is definitely not the most photogenic recipe I've ever posted, and honestly, I didn't try very hard because I was hot and really just wanted to eat the banana ice cream.

The one ingredient banana ice cream is good, but it gets better... Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream, and only has 3 ingredients!

    Both are great options!
