Ingredients
Ground Meat: Lean ground turkey is what I typically use, but ground chicken, ground pork, and ground beef will all work well. A combo of ground meats can also be used.
Maple syrup: Maple syrup adds depth of flavor to the sausage breakfast patties with a touch of sweetness, but it's optional. Use 100% real maple syrup for the best flavor. Brown sugar can be used or omit the maple syrup entirely.
Spices: For seasoning, combine garlic powder, ground sage, ground thyme, cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes, nutmeg, and salt. Fennel seed can also be added, but I often forget it. Black pepper is another optional spice.
