Make ice cream in less than 10 minutes with no ice cream maker! This recipe is fun to do and great to make with kids. Easily made gluten-free and dairy-free
This is a really fun activity for kids and it has very little clean-up or work involved.
You just fill a big bag with ice & ice cream salt. Then you fill a smaller bag with the milk mixture. And shake for 5-10 minutes.
Then you have ice cream! It's so neat!
We made straight-up vanilla because they can't have the Oreo's {wheat-allergy}, so we put sprinkles and chocolate chips on ours but you can really add in whatever you feel like.
There are no pictures of the ice cream-making process since I was mainly doing it the whole time.
But they did enjoy it, and every day after they asked if they could make ice cream again.
Even if you have no kids to do this with, you should make it since it's really easy and you probably have all the ingredients in your kitchen.
Homemade Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 2 sandwich sized zip-top bags or 1 quart sized bag
- 1 gallon sized zip-top bag
- ยฝ cup ice cream or rock salt
- 1 tablespoon sprinkles
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
Instructions
- Fill the large zip-top bag with ice & ยฝ cup ice cream salt. Set aside.
- Whisk together the milk, vanilla, and sugar + ยฝ cup any other add-ins you want.
- Carefully, transfer the milk mixture to the two sandwich bags or the one quart sized bag {depending on how many servings you want this to make}. --I put the sandwich bags in an empty measuring glass and poured the milk mixture in, so the bag was help up by the measuring cup.--
- Carefully seal the smaller bag filled with the ice cream mixture, and put the bag into the large bag filled with ice.
- Seal the large bag tightly, and shake the bag for 5-10 minutes until the milk mixture has the consistency of ice cream. Transfer the ice cream to a bowl, and top evenly with sprinkles & chocolate chips.
- Enjoy!!
