Have you heard about November Project?

Yes? Well then you're obviously awesome.

No? No worries! I'm here to tell you more and why you need to know about it.

November Project is a FREE fitness movement that was born in Boston as a way to stay in shape during cold New England months. source: November Project

I asked Cameron, one of the tribe leaders for November Project New Orleans, to help enlighten my readers...

Meme: Tell me about November Project

Cameron: November Project is a free fitness movement structured for all shapes, sizes and fitness levels to get motivated and get into shape. The only requirement is showing up.
It is that simple: get out of bed and just show up. The workouts are scalable for all fitness levels and our participants range from elite runners to first timers getting off of the couch to begin the process. This video is a great summary and motivational tool to get people to just show up.

Me: What made you want to start November Project in New Orleans?

Cameron: I got the idea to start it in the New Orleans after reading an article in Runner's World magazine last year. After getting approval from the founding Boston Tribe, we formed an awesome team and began pledging for our own tribe in New Orleans.
New Orleans is a perfect fit for the growing movement due to our relatively small geographic area, the increased number of people getting fit, and the overall growth of the city.

Me: What's your favorite part about November Project?

Cameron: A few of my favorite things about November Project are the people I've met while doing something I love and witnessing our members have success getting in shape. It is great when we get thank you's from our members for being their motivation to get up and get fit. The NP community provides members with the motivation and accountability needed to just show up. The community we are building through each member is why we have been successful in New Orleans.

Me: Anything else you want to share?

Cameron: I challenge anyone and everyone to give the November Project a try. Come see us at Champion Square, Wednesday at 6:00am.

And now we'll get to my personal experience with November Project New Orleans...

My friend told me about this thing her brother was trying to get started in New Orleans. Said friend knows me well enough to know that I don't do mornings. When we lived together {multiple years} she knew better than to suggest that I wake up at the crack of dawn to exercise.

However, we are no longer 19, so she mentioned it and noted how cool it would be if I went. Wednesday morning at 6:30am. I didn't make any promises.

Lo and behold, I actually woke up at 5am and let my friend know that I would, in fact, be attending!

Honestly, I think I was still on my post-half marathon high and just felt like it would be a good thing to try.

The first group was small but it was fun!

    {the first group}

And I made it back for another Wednesday in the park. Then it moved to the Super Dome.

What better way to get people to come than to have it at the Dome?!

my November Project New Orleans Experience from Living Well Kitchen

Y'all... the workout at the Dome is tough! It's different every week but it involves a very motivating group doing things like running stairs, air squats, lunges up the ramps, sprinting, push ups, and much more!

Then before you even know it, the workout is over, and you've gotten a great workout in before 7am rolls around.

    Talk about a productive day!

If you're in New Orleans, I highly recommend just showing up - 6am Wednesday mornings at Champion Square. Or check out the November Project website to see if they have one in your area.

Not only is it a FREE and effective workout, it's a great place to have fun & meet new people. Everyone is super friendly and open to newcomers.

So what are you waiting for? All you have to do is Just Show Up!

So fun to read about this - I always saw posts from Elizabeth Eats who lived in Boston and was doing it up there - I hope this catches in cities around the globe!
