Why you should make Peanut Butter Banana Cookies

The most important reason: they are delicious!!

And I love that these cookies only have 5 ingredients, none of which include sugar or butter or oil. They are satisfying and full of peanut butter flavor.

What are Peanut Butter Banana Cookies

I know they don't look exactly like most cookies, but that's because they're not. These Peanut Butter Banana Cookies are sweet without added sugar and they don't require weird ingredients.

Just bananas, peanut butter, oats, salt, and vanilla extract. Read: simple (check out the how-to video after the recipe), budget friendly (no buying expensive flours or other ingredients), and deeeeelish (the most important quality in the food I eat)

    Why this recipe works

The ripe bananas give the cookies natural sweetness, and since peanut butter is the greatest stuff ever, these cookies are just fab!

Since I made these for the first time almost four years ago, they have become regulars in my apartment. I buy bananas almost weekly so I can make these cookies (or their almond butter version cousin) because they are so tasty!

How to Make Peanut Butter Banana Cookies

    1. Mash bananas.
    2. Add peanut butter.
    3. Stir in vanilla extract, oats, and salt.
    4. Place dough on baking sheet, and bake.
    5. Enjoy!

Tips for Making Peanut Butter Banana Cookies

The best ingredients for the recipe

Oats: You can use quick or old fashioned rolled oats. Steel cut or instant/flavored oats will not work in this recipe.

Banana: Ripe bananas are sweeter, and I prefer them. However, you can use a fresher banana if that's what you have.

    Make Ahead Tips

These cookies can be made in advance, but they don't hold up all that well when being transported.

    Variations

    Substitutions:

You can use almond butter in place of the peanut butter, and go here for this recipe for almond butter banana cookies.

    Alternative prep & cooking methods:

Because this recipe has no eggs, you can simply eat the dough without baking it.

    Storage Tips:

These keep tightly covered for up to 3 days. I usually keep them in the fridge, but they can also be kept at room temperature.

What to serve with this dish

Anything! I eat them as dessert, as a snack, and even breakfast, so just serve them with whatever you like.

    Final thoughts:

They satisfy my sweet tooth without giving me a massive sugar crash after eating, and they are easy to make. You simply need a bowl and no special equipment. Plus, they have a little fiber and protein to keep my body happy ๐Ÿ™‚

    Notes

*ยฝ cup of banana is about ยฝ to ยพ of one banana
*They will seem really greasy/watery after you mix them. Just go with it.
*Also, these cookies are not at all sturdy after baking. They just taste good and satisfy a cookie craving. Don't expect to bring them places and have them look right... but they still taste good even if they turn to crumbs or pieces ๐Ÿ™‚
