This Pork Chops, Apples, and Onions recipe is an easy one meal with sweet caramelized onions and apples to balance out the savory, pan seared pork. All you need in a skillet for this tasty dish!
Some of my best posts come from my less-than-thought-out moments.
This summer, I posted this four ingredient soup that I make almost once a week. It's my all-time favorite emergency meal - the one I always have ingredients to make it, even in a pinch.
Then there is the one pot meal with tomatoes, chicken, and cheese. That came from a week when I was too sick to cook, and I ended up getting more emails, texts, and pictures from people who fell in love with that simple recipe.
After cleaning my kitchen for the seven-hundredth time in one week and taking a hard look at what recipes are the most popular with my readers, I decided that I needed to post more one pot meals.
I need to start doing a monthly One Pot series. Whether that happens or not, who knows. But today, I'll start off with a nice fall-inspired recipe.
Caramelized onions, sautéed apples and pork chops
I love that this recipe serves two and can be doubled or tripled to accommodate a larger group. It's also full of produce and protein {and allergy friendly}.
I enjoyed mine as-is, but it could be served with a slice of bread or some rice to absorb any extra juice.
To make: you start by salt & peppering the pork chops {I used boneless chops} and searing them. Take those out of the skillet and caramelize the onions.
Meanwhile, thinly slice the apples and mince the garlic. Then just add in the apples, garlic, and pork chops and some braising liquid to cook. I simmered my pork chops about 15 minutes because I wanted them to be really tender.
Sprinkle with fresh herbs, and that's it! All made in one skillet.
Enjoy!

Could you make this recipe with bone-in pork chops? How much time would you add, if so?

Hmm, I honestly don't know much about bone-in pork chops because I have only ever cooked with boneless. I feel like it would work but you'd need to add some extra time. I'd use a thermometer to check when they are done ๐ Hope that helps!!
