A sandwich that tastes amazing but is equally as good for you with omega-3's, veggies, lean protein, and whole grains
Last week, I posted a recipe for homemade everything bagels and veggie cream cheese.
To persuade you to make them, I made this sandwich {even though I'm not a huge sandwich girl}.
This sandwich with both spinach and roasted red pepper cream cheese smeared on either side of the homemade everything bagel then topped with a few red onion slices, a hard-boiled egg, and smoky salmon.
So delicious!
I love it when things taste amazing but are equally as good for you, and this salmon bagel sandwich is the perfect example.
Veggies from the cream cheese & red onion. Lean protein and omega-3 are from the salmon & the egg. Plus, whole grains from the bagel
Now this is a sandwich I can get behind
I took the pictures a week ago and I now feel terribly sad that this sandwich is not in front of me right now. Almost enough to make more bagels and walk to the grocery store for some more salmon.
But lo and behold I have other {new} recipes to try, so this bagel sandwich will just have to hold a special place in my tasty food memories for now.
You certainly do not have to make your own bagels for this sandwich, but I highly recommend it.
Just look for bagels that are whole wheat and try to have them less than 4 oz. If they are bigger, just scoop out some of the insides of the bagel.
If you don't like salmon, use tuna or chicken instead. Just know that chicken won't give you all the benefits of the omega-3s that you get from salmon and tuna, which is one of my favorite parts about this delightful sandwich.
