My top favorite travel snacks to keep you full, satisfied, and feeling well-nourished

I love to travel. Yes, preparing for a trip can be a little stressful, but I generally enjoy traveling.
Obviously it's more fun to travel for pleasure, but business travel can still be enjoyable.
I've talked about my Travel Essentials before but realized I should talk about my travel snacks, too. Eating healthfully on a trip can be a daunting tasks but it can totally be done!
You might remember that I went to Disney World a few weeks ago for 6 nights/7 days, and I took good notes on my favorite snacks that kept me satisfied and happy.
So here are some snacks that travel well but also keep your body feeling well-nourished and ready to tackle the day...
These delicious green crisps satisfy your salty snack craving without much added junk. Most salty snacks offer little nutritional value and can make you feel not-so-great. But these are a healthy snackers delight and even people who aren't health conscious like these.
They are high in fiber (4 grams per serving) and offer a moderate amount of protein (5g per serving). They are also low in sodium (50mg per serving).
I like to buy a giant bag from Costco or Amazon and portion them out into little snack bags to keep portions in check. They are pretty easy to eat, so be careful that you don't eat the whole bag in one sitting!
Beef Jerky
I typically like to make my own beef jerky, but if you are going on a longer trip, it's a good idea to buy the individual packs since beef jerky does hold up better if it's refrigerated. One package packs around 13g of protein so it can be a great choice for a snack or something to hold you over for a meal. I ♥ beef jerky!
Fruit chips are great but only if you get the ones that aren't fried and/or have added sugar. My favorite brand is Bare Snacks, and their Fuji Red Apple Chips are the bee's knees and a little bit lot addicting. I really like that they are just apples. Nothing else. The only ingredient is apples.
Similar to the Calbee Snapea Crisps, I buy a big bag at Costco or Amazon and portion into little baggies to take with me. They're crunchy, sweet, and satisfying thanks to their fiber.
Thanks to my fellow blogging friend, Jenna, I started taking ENERGYbits®. I'm obsessed. They give you energy without feeling like a crazy over-caffeinated person. Plus, they have a little protein in them and lots of vitamins and minerals.
I love that they aren't full of weird ingredients, just spirulina. Plus, they are incredibly easy to travel with!
I don't just have these for traveling; I take them every morning and sometimes even in the afternoon if I'm feeling extra tired or low in energy. They are fab!! P.S. Use the promo code memeinge to get 20% off 🙂 Disclosure: I am a Brand Ambassador for ENERGYbits® so I receive free bits if you use my code.
Cheese
String cheese or little snack packs of cheese are great because they are like little packages of protein. You'll obviously need something to store cold food after a while, but if you have an ice chest or mini fridge you're good to go.
Cheese is a great option because of it's protein, and it pairs well with lots of things -- fruit, crackers, nuts or seeds, and more. It also packs in some bone building calcium your body needs.
I always have these Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar Cheese Serious Snacking Snack Bars with me because they are so easy to throw in my bag on the go.
Fruit
Ok so I know this one isn't super exciting, but fruit is great for traveling. Obviously, some fruit travels better than others. My favorites are little oranges {yay for Vitamin C}, apples, and bananas.
If you have access to cold storage, you can always pack berries since fiber is not something you tend to get very much of on a trip. Those squeeze fruit packs are also great since they last a really long time without refrigeration.
Nuts and/or Seeds
I love having small bags of nuts or seeds. Personally, I think nuts are easier because seeds are small and a little harder to eat on the go. However, with a nut allergy in my family, seeds are the way to go. They both have a good mix of fiber, fat, and protein.
Another great option similar to nuts/seeds is granola, and the Pumpkin Granola and Coconut Maple Almond Granola are both deeeeelish!
Homemade Muffins
If you have a chance to make something before you go on your trip, these Banana Almond Muffins are incredible! They can be breakfast, snack, or dessert. They have no added sugar {just the banana used to sweeten them} and they are so so so tasty! You can keep them at room temperature for a few days or store in the fridge or freezer for longer.
Another muffin option that I love are the Blackberry Almond Muffins or Blueberry Almond Muffins. They have a touch of added sugar from honey but they are still a great option! And I love them {and now I need to make them}
