Valentine's Day Gin Fizz is an easy winter gin cocktail that's also great for strawberry season. With quick homemade simple syrup, this fun and festive gin cocktail has only 5 ingredients.

While Valentine's Day is written off as a silly holiday, I really love it {pun intended}.
A holiday that celebrates pink and chocolate?! Yes, please!
Plus we all know how much I love cocktails, so naturally I have a few Valentine's Day themed cocktail recipes for you (check out this Bourbon Hot Chocolate you'll also love!)
Today's Valentine's Day cocktail is made with gin.
Gin? Yes, gin. And it's delish!
To be honest, I've never been a huge gin drinker, but I absolutely love a gin cocktail.
With oranges prevalent and strawberry season just beginning in New Orleans, I made a drink pairing the seasonal fruits with gin to make a pretty pink Valentine's Day cocktail.
What I love about this cocktail {almost as much as the color} is that it isn't too wimpy. Yes, it's pretty but I wouldn't say that this is sugary sweet without any alcohol taste.
It's definitely strong, so you have to drink this quite slow.
Since it's best not to over-consume alcohol, it's nice that this strong drink helps keep you in check. You can also add extra soda water to stretch the drink {some people prefer a larger drink that is a little weaker}.
There are only 5 ingredients in this Valentine's Day Gin Fizz : gin, strawberries, fresh orange juice, sparkling water, and sugar. I typically like to skip the added sugars and syrups, but I felt like this was just a little tastier with a little bit of sugar.
All I did was add boiling water to a small bowl and stir in a tablespoon of sugar. That dissolves the sugar. Then you stir it into the orange juice, strawberries, and gin. I let that chill for about 30 minutes then served it in glasses topped with sparkling water.
You can serve this over ice but I forgot to make ice liked it cold but not ice cold.
You could make a big pitcher of these to serve to a crowd or make a few for a festive, fun, yet potent drink

See, I'm totally not a gin drinker because I think it tastes like pine cones like you said! (And admittedly to an unfortunate underage drinking incident years ago.) But now I'm intrigued to try Bluecoat based on your description AND how gorgeous these cocktails look!

Haha that made me laugh out loud. I was surprised that I actually liked this gin! 🙂

I recently started drinking gin-based cocktails like French 75, but only when they're wimpy drinks. Maybe I can be a brave soldier and try you're not-too-wimpy Gin Fizz, which looks marvelous!

Thanks Jessica! I am usually a wimpy drink lover but this one was good but not too intense 🙂
