Fun and festive chocolate covered strawberries that are perfect for your football tailgate
Are you so happy it's football season?
Or are you already over it?
I am a big football lover but games make me nervous. Therefore, I like to make snacks, drinks, etc.
In honor of football season, I'm going to be posting some good football party recipes all week long.
For today, I am posting Strawberry Footballs: chocolate covered strawberries with a touch of white chocolate to make the "laces" on the football
I have seen them on Pinterest before, but honestly they seemed like something only overachiever/seasoned bakers could actually make.
I hate things that don't turn out like the picture, and I judged those little strawberries thinking they'd be just that - a recipe that would make me frustrated because they wouldn't turn out right.
Luckily, I was wrong!
My friend/cousin in law, Catherine, actually made these. But I couldn't leave them out of my football party recipes.
Aren't they adorable?
Plus, it's an easy way to get people eating fruit when usually they're snacking on nutrient-devoid carb-filled foods. Score! {touchdown pun intended}
Catherine says: make sure to use a deep bowl or mug to melt the chocolate. This makes it easier to cover the entire strawberry, especially when you are getting to the end of the chocolate.
So true! Also, using the coconut oil helps keep the chocolate smooth but it's not necessary; you can still make them without coconut oil. Do make sure not to overcook the chocolate chips because they harden and get crusty {gross} if you microwave them too long.
Oh and they are delicious with the Strawberry Daiquiris ๐

- Take the strawberries out of the refrigerator and draw laces on the strawberries using the white chocolate in a zip-top bag. Refrigerate until hardened.
