I can't stand those little packets of spice, dressing, or gravy mixes... They'd be great if it was just spices & herbs, but there's usually tons of salt plus lots of other weird things.
For example, here is the ingredients list in a packet of Ranch dressing mix:
Maltodextrin, Buttermilk, Salt, Monosodium Glutamate {MSG}, Lactic Acid, Dried Garlic, Dried Onion, Spices, Citric Acid, Less than 1%: Calcium Stearate, Artificial Flavor, Xanthan Gum, Carboxymethylcellulose, Guar Gum

Are you kidding me? Why in the world can't it just be Buttermilk, Dried Garlic, Dried Onion, and Spices?!
I've already done a post on Ranch dressing, so when I saw a commercial for Ranch Burgers using a packet of Ranch dressing mix, I thought "why not make them from scratch?"
Why you should make these Ranch Burgers
Yes, they are more work. Like less than 3 minutes more work. But if you can use a measuring spoon then you are capable of making your own Ranch burgers from scratch.
You save money and actually do your body good {spices & herbs are super healthy and full of antioxidants!} if you make your own spice mix. And like I said earlier, it takes less than 3 extra minutes and it's beyond easy
How to Make Ranch Burgers
Nothing out of the ordinary here... you'll just stir together some spices and gently mix them into the ground meat. Then shape into patties, and cook.
You can grill the burgers or cook inside on the stove or in the oven. My preferred indoor choice for cooking burgers is with a cast iron skillet on the stove, but you could easily broil them in the oven.
Tips for Making this Ranch Hamburger Recipe
The best ground beef for the recipe
My personal preference is ground sirloin. There is enough fat to keep your burger from drying out but not too much where your burger is greasy and shrinks because so much of the fat is released.
Make sure you don't buy extra lean or your burgers might end up really dry. You can always add a tablespoon of oil to the mixture if needed.
Make Ahead Tips
You can mix and shape these burgers into patties. Keep in the refrigerator until you're ready to cook. Take them out of the fridge right before you start preheating the grill, oven, or skillet.
Variations & Substitutions
These burgers can be made with both ground beef or ground turkey.
You can add shredded cheese into the ground meat mixture, or I like to add a slice of cheddar right before removing them from the heat.
What to serve with this dish
I served mine with my Perfect Baked Fries, but the Healthier Potato Salad would be another great side for these burgers.
Don't forget to add on a salad or some other non-starchy vegetable while you're at it. You can go all out and even serve the salad with some Ranch dressing for those that really love ranch.
Final thoughts:
I really like how just a few simple pantry ingredients can give so much flavor to your burgers. And that you don't have to buy ranch dressing mix packets to make these tasty Ranch Burgers.
